| | There are three main options for organising your move, and they all have varying costs, advantages and disadvantages. | | Your options
Option 1: Do it yourself You can hire a trailer or van, enlist a few friends, and make lots of trips between your existing accommodation and your new home. The advantage of this is that it’s cheap. The disadvantage is that if you’ve got an average amount of possessions, it’s likely to take all day and cause a lot of stress and hard work. Before opting for the ‘do it yourself’ (DIY) approach, consider whether it’s really worth it for the money you’ll save. Option 2: Pack and unpack yourself, and hire someone to do the heavy stuff You can have a moving company come in and just take your stuff to your new home, having packed it up yourself beforehand. This can be a cost-effective option, although you should remember that you will probably need to arrange your own insurance for the move. The downside is that packing and unpacking in itself can still take quite a bit of time and effort. Option 3: Full service Moving companies can also do the whole thing – pack your stuff, move it to your new home, and unpack it once it arrives. This can be expensive (make sure you shop around) but it is certainly the most stress-free approach. To find a moving company, go to the Yellow Pages website and look for the category ‘Furniture Removal and Packers’ in your region. Next page | Things to think about >>
