How does it work?
Private sales are almost always through the offer and negotiation process.  The only difference is that no real estate agent is involved, so you’ll be dealing with the seller directly.

If you sell your home privately, you will be responsible for everything a real estate agent normally does including:

  • Marketing the property
  • Answering phone calls from prospective buyers
  • Arranging to show people your home
  • Making follow-up phone calls to interested buyers
  • Negotiating the deal.

Selling your home privately can involve a lot of work.  In addition, you need to be a good negotiator.  If you’re not, consider using an agent.  They’re trained in negotiation skills, and if they can add five or ten percent to your selling price they’ll earn their commission.

Marketing your home
The hardest aspect is most often marketing your home and getting people to make offers.
